Attorney Matthew B. Woods is a Member of the firm and Chairman of the Litigation Practice Group.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut and Boston University School of Law (cum laude), Attorney Woods has over 29 years of trial experience in the state and federal courts. He has tried more than 40 cases that have resulted in published decisions issued by the Connecticut Supreme Court and the Connecticut Appellate Court. These cases involve such diverse fields as mortgage, family, tax, zoning, personal injury, banking, condominiums and contracts.
While well-versed and experienced in many litigation fields, Attorney Woods practices predominately in the areas of creditor's rights, employment, planning and zoning, tax appeals, construction law (including arbitration), land disputes, contract litigation, personal injury litigation, evictions and foreclosures.
As Trial Counsel for the City of Milford, Connecticut, Attorney Woods handles all tax and zoning appeals for the City. In other municipalities, he represents property owners, developers, and neighborhood associations in these matters.
In addition, Attorney Woods has tried or settled over 200 personal injury and accident cases. He limits his personal injury and accident cases to matters in which he can provide necessary personal attention to the client and does not delegate matters to paralegals, investigators or other non-lawyers.
Matthew is married to Deborah MacLeese Woods and has two children. He devotes substantial volunteer time as Chairman of the Milford Permanent School Facilities Building Committee and member of the Milford Republican Town Committee.
